In critical medical situations, such as when a patient relies on a ventilator to breathe, every aspect of the equipment’s functionality is of paramount importance. Ventilators are life-saving devices that assist patients with breathing when they are unable to do so on their own. The continuous and reliable flow of air is essential, and even a momentary disconnect of the breathing tube can be life-threatening. To address this concern, sensitive air pressure switches are used to monitor and ensure that air pressure remains within safe parameters when a disconnect occurs. Using Presair’s D1000E pressure switch or PCB pressure switch, we can sense when air pressure falls to as little as 0.50 inches of water to alert the operator that there is a loss. On the flip side, the pressure switch can also alert the operator that air pressure is present in the system sensing pressure rise.
For a patient who is physically unable to breath or feeling a significant shortage of breath, a ventilator can help. The ventilator provides mechanical ventilations by moving breathable air in and out of the lungs.
Sensitive Air Pressure Switches
Presair pressure switches make electrical contact when a certain set pressure has been reached on its input. These switches are available either field adjustable or factory set allowing each micro switch to operate at a different setting.
